Andrew Johnston

Managing Director
Macro Limited

I am a support specialist with 30 years experience in the computer and software industry. My primary focus is making technology work for you, so you can experience the upside of computing, not the down time associated with system failures.

With the proper maintenance of your equipment and by carefully crafting any new solutions you may require, you can more effectively benefit from the technologies you have in place.

We have no exclusive relationships to vendors and our recommendations will be based solely on the suitability of the solution you require. This allows us to pick from the best solutions available from all vendors.

As the founder and chief technical architect of the Internet services in the Hawke's Bay region, I have a proven track record in providing solutons that work. Ranging from the supply of personal laptops to the architecture of complex networks with multipul national broadband links and catering for home based and traveling workers, solutions that work have benefited many local organisations of varying sizes.

Macro is a registered member of the Microsoft Partner Program and Andrew is a current Qualified Support Partner for the Accredo and IMS Payroll range of business accounting software and for the medical sector, qualifications include Medtech Certified Engineer (pending). more qualifications

A history...

Andrew first started his professional career as a software developer and joined the firm of chartered accountants, Coopers and Lybrand as a database administrator and accounting junior.

Advancing quickly as an IBM dealership engineer, Andrew provided support for the prestigious IBM range of servers and workstations. Accounting software and Point of Sale products quickly became an area of speciality with a particular focus on the Profax accounting software range.

Massey University was the next stop, completing second and third year papers for a Diploma in Business Studies majoring in Information Systems.

Returning to the Hawke's Bay, Andrew setup his own computer support company, named, InfoLink Systems, where the concept of the Intenet first took form. The early predecessor of the Internet was the Bulletin Board of which Andrew was the designer and system operator. This service maintained national and international links which quickly grew into Internet Hawkes Bay.

Andrew sold his company and semi-retired from the the hustle and bustle of the ISP business returning to the business in which his clients would benefit mostly from his range of skills.

Macro Limited was formed on the 4th October 2006 and based upon the many requests from his clients, Andrew is now providing a specialist support and consultancy service as well as creating innovative IT solutions for his clients.

Macro surrounds itself with a wealth of knowledge and a talented team of consultants who are willing and very able to provide assistance in technical support, system design and installation.
